Department Introduction

Our department is staffed with 1 specialist physician, 6 physical therapists, 2 occupational therapists, and 1 speech therapist. The department includes outpatient clinics, physical therapy rooms, occupational therapy rooms, speech therapy rooms, and an electromyography (EMG) examination room. We provide rehabilitation treatment for both outpatient and inpatient cases. Our services include:

• Physical Therapy: Treatment using sound, light, electricity, water, thermal modalities (hot/cold), traction, and exercise therapy.

• Occupational Therapy: Training in motor control, muscle strengthening, activities of daily living, hand function, splint fabrication, home exercise guidance, and self-practice.

• Speech Therapy: Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders including language impairment, fluency disorders, voice disorders, articulation problems, oral motor function, and swallowing disorders.

• Neuromuscular Electrophysiological Examination: Assessment of the severity and nature of nerve or muscle lesions to evaluate prognosis and expected treatment outcomes.

The Rehabilitation Department is organized with a department head, two professional technician, a team leader, 5 physical therapists, 2 occupational therapists, and 1 speech therapist.

Services Provided
Primary treatment areas include shoulder and neck pain, lower back pain, sciatica, knee pain, rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative arthritis, scoliosis, frozen shoulder, gout, plantar fasciitis, acute sprains and strains, sports injuries, tendonitis, post-operative joint stiffness and limited mobility, muscle atrophy, joint deformities, pediatric torticollis, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, poliomyelitis, facial nerve palsy, nerve injury-related limb dysfunction, hand numbness, stroke rehabilitation, dizziness, insomnia, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and pain management.

Neuromuscular Electrophysiological Examination:

1. Localize nerve injuries

2. Detect severity of neuropathies

3. Assess prognosis of nerve lesions

4. Differentiate between nerve and muscle disorders

• Morning: 08:30 – 11:30

• Afternoon: 13:00 – 16:30

Post-Acute Care (PAC) Program

1. The Rehabilitation Department undertakes the Post-Acute Care Integrated Program, providing intensive inpatient rehabilitation including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

2. Eligible patients include those with stroke, fragility fractures, traumatic nerve injuries, and frail elderly. Upon physician assessment and eligibility confirmation, patients can join the program to restore function, reduce subsequent rehospitalization, decrease medical costs, and lessen family and societal caregiving burdens.

Facilities and Equipment
We have medium-frequency electrical stimulation, shortwave diathermy, ultrasound therapy, paraffin therapy, heat therapy, infrared therapy, cervical and lumbar traction devices, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulators (TENS), multifunctional exercise chairs, lower limb isokinetic strength training machines, treatment mattresses, stairs, ramps, parallel bars, and other therapeutic apparatus. Treatment plans are formulated by therapists based on physician orders and patient assessments to provide the most appropriate therapy.

Equipment Highlights: Various muscle strength and endurance training devices; specialized equipment for central nervous system disorder rehabilitation; spinal traction, heat therapy, ultrasound, and electrotherapy devices.
