Family Medicine

The Family Medicine Department at Taipei Veterans General Hospital Hsinchu Branch was established in October 1991 (ROC Year 80) and began outpatient and health screening services in July 1992 (ROC Year 81). Our physicians are all trained general practitioners specializing in first-line management of various diseases, prevention and treatment of common illnesses, and providing physical and psychological health consultations. The department emphasizes comprehensive care for the entire family unit.
Services Provided
  • General Outpatient Clinic (Including Self-Paid Vaccinations): Management of common internal medicine and surgical conditions, evaluation of nonspecific symptoms without clear specialty classification, holistic physical and mental health care for all family members, preventive health screenings, and self-paid vaccines (HPV, Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine (PPV), Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV), Herpes Zoster vaccine).
  • Publicly Funded Vaccination Clinic: Government-funded vaccines including Pneumococcal vaccine, COVID-19 vaccine, Mpox vaccine, and seasonal influenza vaccine (for eligible individuals as per Taiwan CDC guidelines).
  • Outpatient Health Checkups: Includes labor physical examinations, general health checkups, vehicle license physicals, and various certification examinations (excluding military service physicals).
Service Hours:
Refer to the monthly outpatient schedule. During August and September (elderly health promotion period), service hours adjust to 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Regular hours: Monday to Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM; Wednesday afternoon 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM.
Required Documents:
Please bring your National ID card and National Health Insurance card for outpatient health checkups and report to Clinic 37 in Family Medicine for the examination. If additional blood or urine tests are needed, please specify clearly.
Report Collection:
Patients may collect their reports 5-7 working days after the examination during outpatient health checkup hours by presenting identification at Clinic 37. Please be patient if the staff are busy.
Authorized Proxy Collection:
Proxy collectors must present both their own and the patient's identification. The hospital does not provide mail delivery for reports.
Application for Health Checkup Certificates:
Patients must bring their National Health Insurance card and ID card to the registration counter to register for outpatient health checkup and then proceed to Clinic 37 for processing.
Free Adult Health Checkups:
Includes colorectal cancer screening, oral cancer screening, and other cancer screenings (eligibility requires National Health Insurance card verification and Ministry of Health and Welfare subsidy confirmation).
Service Hours:
Monday to Wednesday and Friday mornings, check in at Clinic 37 for health checkup (no registration fee required, please select department code FME).
Notes:
One week after the examination, patients should return to Clinic 37 during health checkup hours with their National Health Insurance card for report consultation with the nurse. Clinic extension: 302 (during outpatient hours).

Smoking cessation outpatient clinic, community health screening services, health education lectures, self-paid elder care, home medical and nursing care, palliative and hospice care, Long-Term Care 2.0 services.
Health Checkups for Foreigners
Since July 1, 2025 (ROC Year 114), our hospital is a designated and accredited medical institution for foreigner health examinations. Online appointment registration opened on June 19. Please select “Foreigner Health Checkup” as the department and make an appointment at least two days in advance (e.g., for a February 4 appointment, reserve by February 2 at the latest). Please refer to our “Foreigner Health Checkup Appointment Guidelines (READ THIS).”
