Department Overview

All attending physicians in our division have undergone rigorous training at medical centers and hold board certifications in both Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. Our medical technicians also receive comprehensive training to ensure professional and compassionate care.

To stay current with the latest advancements in the field, our team regularly attends national and international academic conferences related to gastroenterology, endoscopy, and ultrasound medicine.

We are equipped with state-of-the-art electronic endoscopy systems and offer painless endoscopic procedures to reduce patient anxiety and discomfort. Our services include a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as:

• Abdominal ultrasound

• Ultrasound-guided drainage

• Diagnostic endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, biopsy)

• Therapeutic endoscopy, including:

  • Endoscopic hemostasis

  • Endoscopic variceal ligation (EVL)

  • Foreign body removal (esophagus/stomach)

  • Polypectomy

All endoscopic equipment is disinfected in accordance with the Taiwan Society of Digestive Endoscopy guidelines, using automated cleaning and disinfection systems. Routine water and microbiological testing are performed to ensure patient safety and hygiene standards.

We are also part of the National Health Insurance (NHI) programs for chronic hepatitis B and C treatment and carrier surveillance, providing antiviral therapy (for eligible patients) and follow-up care supported by dedicated hepatitis care educators.

To enhance accessibility and efficiency, our outpatient clinic is equipped with an ultrasound system, allowing same-day abdominal ultrasound evaluations for patients with suspected hepatobiliary or pancreatic conditions. Additionally, for patients presenting with upper GI symptoms during morning clinic hours, and who meet fasting and medical clearance criteria, we offer same-day esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD).

As of 2024, we have introduced an AI-assisted polyp detection system for colonoscopy, and in 2025, an advanced colonoscopy cap device was added to further improve diagnostic accuracy. Colonoscopy quality indicators are continuously monitored and meet or exceed international benchmark standards.

Facilities & Equipment

Our division uses advanced Japanese-imported electronic endoscopy systems—the same as those used in major medical centers. In collaboration with the Anesthesiology Department, we provide intravenous sedation for a more comfortable and less stressful endoscopic experience.
